Florian Künne, GURTEC’s New Operations Director
Florian Künne is the new Operations Director at GURTEC and will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of all key business operations. With ten years of experience as Production Manager, Florian brings deep knowledge of the company’s production and internal processes.
“I don’t see my role as turning everything upside down, but as a partner and supporter of these departments. My focus is on fine-tuning processes and raising awareness of each department’s needs so that we can work even more efficiently and create more value together ”, says Florian.
We asked Florian what makes GURTEC successful today and what will drive its future growth.
What sets GURTEC apart in today’s market?
Product quality and durability. We have over 50 years of in-house experience in roller manufacturing, a Europe-wide supplier network for high-quality raw materials, and highly specialized production capabilities. This enables us to set the benchmark for high-quality rollers with a competitive price structure.
Together with ROXON and other NEPEAN companies, we can serve customers with a broad portfolio of high-quality mining and material handling equipment.
Where do you see the greatest potential for future growth?
The greatest opportunities clearly lie in automation and robotics.
Not every roller is suitable for production on automated lines. Smaller aftermarket orders and custom-made products will continue to be produced with a high degree of craftsmanship. With our standard rollers, however, increasing process automation is driving greater cost efficiency while maintaining consistently high quality.
The combination of highly automated processes and handcrafted small batches on three different production lines, including Fast-Track, creates opportunities for additional large-scale projects as well as a wide range of operational customers.
What does the new CNC production line enable?
Our new CNC production line consists of a dual-spindle CNC machine, an industrial robot, and a smart bin-picking camera system.
Components can be loaded directly from boxes or pallets. The camera system identifies the parts, the robot grips and cleans them, and places them in the CNC machine. After machining, the robot removes the finished part, cleans it, and prepares it for the next production stages.
The result is near 24-hour operation with minimal manpower while maintaining high production quality.
How will the new CNC production line benefit customers?
On the new CNC production line, we will mainly process roller tubes for several major OEM customers. These rollers are ordered in large quantities on a regular basis.
By centralizing these products on a dedicated machine, we can increase productivity in our CNC department and make our production more efficient. The line can also process other parts and roller tubes in larger quantities, creating additional flexibility and capacity for our customers.
This enables us to offer competitive pricing and shorter lead times while maintaining the high quality standards our customers expect.
